Springfield, Illinois - The Orthopedic Center of Illinois Foundation (OCIF) Friday announced the benefactor for the 7th Annual OCIF Open: Chip in fore Charity!  The Springfield YMCA will receive $20,000 as the beneficiary of the annual golf outing being held on September 27 at Panther Creek Country Club.

“We received a number of applications from very deserving organizations.  Ultimately the Board of Directors chose the Springfield YMCA for their Give. Build. Grow. capital campaign,” said Dr. Tim VanFleet, OCIF Board Member.  He added, “The YMCA plays an integral part in the quality of life of the citizens of Springfield and surrounding communities.  It’s poised for tremendous growth in its membership with their new facility on the southwest side of Springfield and their mission is consistent with OCIF’s interests and goals.”

OCIF was formed, among other things, to support projects promoting patient education, continuing medical education, and regional charitable organizations.  Past benefactors of the outing include:  Central Illinois Foodbank (2004), Boys and Girls Club of Springfield (2005), Contact Ministries (2006), Southwind Park (2007), and Big Brothers Big Sisters (2008), and the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center (2009).
